Abstract
Humanitarian Supply Chain is an emerging concept in Disaster Management and academic and practitioner interest in it is beginning to expand. Limited or no consensus is currently available among decision-makers, academicians, and practitioners as to the exact effect and extent of influence of Humanitarian Supply Chain Management on Disaster response. Therefore, this study tries to examine the relationship between Humanitarian Supply Chain Management and Disaster Response. The study formulated a hypothesis based on the identified study concepts. Stratified random sampling was used to sample 258 respondents from Dodoma Region in Tanzania. Semi-structured questionnaires were administered to collect primary data from the study population. Data were confirmed by using validity and reliability tests, normality tests, and linearity tests. Data analysis was conducted through descriptive analysis, regression analysis, multiple regression analysis, and Pearson correlation analysis. In this study, it was revealed that Humanitarian Supply Chain Management is significant to Disaster Response. Further findings in the study also revealed that there is a positive correlation between Humanitarian Supply Chain Management and Disaster Response. It is therefore recommended that the practitioners, decision-makers, and academicians should move away from the basic understanding of Humanitarian Supply Chain Management which might pave the way for rapid assistance to disaster victims in salvaging restoration of human dignity during and after a disaster.
